1952 Siata Daina Gran Sport Farina

Based on the fiat 1400, the Daina or Gran Sport is a carefully crafted special. It was the largest of the models offered by Siata and featured simple aluminium bodywork by Stabilimenti Farina. At their Turin facility, Siata beefed up the Fiat 1400 with extra cross members and reduced the drive shaft length. They also retained the standard Fiat suspension setup with double wishbones up front. This chassis was fitted with a 1400cc engine that had a unique over-head valve arrangement that was unique to Siata. Also fitted was Weber Carburetors that raised the stock power from 60 to 72 bhp. This was attached tot the stock 4-speed manual or a custom Siata 5-speed gearbox. Later this model was replaced by cars fitted with the Fiat “ottu Vu” V8 engine. In detail: produced from 1950 – 1955, build at Turin Italy, body Farina, body frame steel, production 50, engine inline-4, 1395cc, front and rear aluminum drums, live axle with leave springs and coil springs, 4-speed manual. This particular car was completely restored and has only driven 989 miles since the restoration. Colour dark red with tan interior. The car was new delivered to the US, first registered 15/09/1952. First owner was mister Richard Amon after that the car had 3 other owners in the US. The car participated in the Walt Disney movie Love Bug. In 1988 Edmond Pery bought the car from a mister Kolmann. Mr. Edmond Pery, well known from the Belgian auto brand APAL imported the car in Belgium in 1989. He sold the car to the last owner who had it completely frame of restored. During the restoration the engine has been tuned with bigger cilinder head valves and special exhaust manifolds. Photographs of the restoration available. The car is in concours condition.
